POS-2026-3013: INTEGRATE: Using routinely-collected healthcare data to inform clinical guidance and improve population health

In this study, we will use healthcare records to understand osteoporosis and how it is treated in everyday
care. We will group people based on whether they have already had a broken bone, as this shows who is at higher risk of breaking another bone. We will look at their risk of future fractures and describe basic
background information, such as age and sex.

We will examine how osteoporosis medicines are used in real life, including when treatment starts, how
long people stay on treatment, whether it is stopped, and whether people switch medicines. We will also
look at what happens after treatment starts, such as further fractures or death, and whether care and
outcomes differ between groups of people. The findings will help NICE and the NHS understand how
osteoporosis treatments are used in practice and support decisions to improve care and reduce
inequalities across the NHS.
