Project #207: Recording of additional prescription information in OpenSAFELY
Information about prescribed medicines such as quantity prescribed, and whether it is prescribed as a repeat, is important for understanding how medicines are being used in the real-world, and for estimating their safety and effectiveness. The purpose of this study is to describe the information contained in additional fields in the primary care record overall and for a range of medicine types, to understand if they can be used for research, and if so, to provide guidance to researchers about how best to use these fields.
