I became a PPI collaborator because both as a carer and as a user of health services, I saw good and bad healthcare. This is also the reason why I am passionate to ensure the seldom heard voices are heard.
The most rewarding aspect of my role is to be able to contribute in helping researchers to improve things from a patient’s perspectives. At first I didn’t know a great deal about health data, but being part of OpenSafely has changed my perspective. Using the data can help reduce health inequalities; Covid 19 exposed the gaps, especially in relation to race.
I enjoy reading in my spare time.
