The most rewarding aspect of my role is knowing that I’m making a difference, while acknowledging I cannot represent everyone. But I do my best to highlight issues based on my experience and try to make improvements.

I was inspired to get into public involvement after finding a gap in support for unpaid carers and dementia sufferers. I found that it was a place where myself, and my late husband’s lived experience, was heard and valued.

What I like about working with OpenSAFELY is the combination of learning new subjects, and the team of Digital Critical Friends. It’s a space where we can have project updates and can ask questions, share feedback, discuss as a team and so forth.

In my spare time I love cuddles with the dog, painting, drawing, guitar and riding my motorbike. Also gardening and spending time outside in nature.
